Nepal Statistical Society is a common professional and academic platform for those who are involved in teaching statistics, doing statistical research, and performing other statistical activities. This society was previously established in the year 1991(2048 BS) under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mrigendra Lal Singh. Later, in 2014 (2070 BS), it was reorganized/established and legally registered under the name of …नेपाल तथ्यांकशास्त्र समाज (Nepal Statistical Society) in the District Administration Office, Kathmandu.

The main aims of the society are to a) promote the academic advancement in statistics teaching and research; b) conduct various programs for the development and up-gradation of various fields of study, teaching, research, and application of statistics; c) conduct various programs to establish the authority of statistics subject, where the priority of statistics should be; d) work to help make the role, working methods, and responsibilities of all Nepali statisticians standard and responsible.

Nepal Statistical Society always strives for the i)  enhancement of thematic competencies of the persons who are involved in statistics ii)  protection and promotion of professional rights and interests iii)  establish good relations among all the statisticians. This society has three types of provisions of membership; a) Ordinary membership b) Life membership and c) Honorary membership. As its regular functions, the Nepal Statistical Society is making various academic training, interactions, and promotional activities.
